We are pleased to welcome you to the 2018 Canadian Association of Sergeants-at-Arms conference. Conference documentation and information is available in French upon request.

 The 2018 Canadian Association of Sergeants-at-Arms Professional Development Conference will take place in Toronto, from July 22-27, 2018.

Conference Registration and Fees

Register for the conference online via the Conference Registration tab. Please ensure to provide the required information as well as the number of guests accompanying you and any dietary requirements.

The registration deadline is June 22nd, 2018.

Accompanying Persons Fee: $200

The registration fees are payable by cash at the registration desk at the hotel or by cheque payable to: Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Note: credit cards are not accepted.

Accommodation

The conference hotel is the Radisson Admiral Hotel Toronto-Harbourfront, 249 Queens Quay West, Toronto, Ontario. The deadline for hotel reservations is June 22nd, 2018 to ensure the group rate pricing ($279/night, single or double occupancy) and availability.  Delegates are responsible for the cost of their room, taxes and incidental costs. Parking at the Hotel

Underground parking is available at the hotel at an overnight rate of $26 (plus HST) for self-parking per day, with unlimited “in and out” privileges.

Arrivals

The official arrival day is Sunday, July 22nd, 2018.  A registration desk will be available on Sunday, July 22nd from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the hotel, Pool Patio South, 5th floor, and on Monday, July 23rd from 7:00 am to 10:00 am in the Admiral Ballroom Foyer.

The Greater Toronto area has two airports – one on the city’s outskirts and one downtown, as follows:

  1. Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), located 40 km from downtown Toronto, is approximately 40 minutes by car to the hotel.
  2. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), located near downtown Toronto, is approximately 15 minutes by car to the hotel.

Transportation Options

You are responsible for your own transportation to and from your point of arrival and the hotel.

For Toronto Pearson International Airport:

  • Taxis and airline limos are available just outside the terminals.
  • The Union Pearson Express (UP Express), a rail link connecting travelers from Toronto Pearson to Union Station in 25 minutes, is located in Terminal 1, directly adjacent to the Link Train service connecting Terminals 1 and 3. The UP Express service counter is in the International Arrivals hall of Terminal 1. You can purchase tickets online or at the ticket vending machines at the airport. Once you arrive at Union Station, taxis are available along Front Street to transport you to the hotel.

For Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport: 

  • Taxis are available just outside the terminal.

Business Sessions

Business sessions will take place at the hotel on Monday, July 23rd and on Tuesday, July 24th in Salon A, Admiral Ballroom. On Thursday, July 26th, business sessions will take place at Ontario’s Legislative Building at Queen’s Park, Toronto.  Transportation will be provided.

Accompanying Persons Program

A separate program for Accompanying Persons is offered while delegates are in business sessions.

Dietary and Special Requirements

Please indicate your dietary and/or special requirements on the registration form.  We will make every effort to accommodate you if notified in advance. 

Identification

Delegates and guests must wear their conference identification at all business sessions and events.

Dress Attire

Dress throughout the conference is business casual except for Thursday, July 22nd when business attire (dark suit for men) is preferred at lunch with the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.  Casual dress is acceptable for the baseball game and the Niagara Region excursion day.

Networking Sessions

Networking sessions will be in Room 300 in the hotel.  Check your program for scheduled opening and closing times.

Gift Shop

The Legislative Assembly Gift Shop, located in the Legislative Building, offers a wide selection of unique gifts, souvenirs and exclusive items reflecting the heritage and culture of Ontario. The gift shop is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Show your conference ID and receive a 20% discount on all purchases.

July in Toronto can be hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 35°C (70°F to 95°F). Bring a light jacket or sweater for evenings.
